The Bangor Blue Ox played two seasons (1996–1997), leaving behind a remarkable archive of documents, photographs and memories. The full collection will be gifted to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in May. The Blue Ox Archives video series is a new concept in community video storytelling, presented by Hero Network.

Long

The Bangor Blue Ox was an independent minor league baseball team that played two seasons at Mahaney Diamond on the campus of the University of Maine in 1996–1997. Known for signing Red Sox legend Oil Can Boyd and their beloved mascot Babe the Blue Ox, the team delighted fans and forced the community to ask itself important questions. When the defeat of a stadium bond issue forced the team to leave, the archive went into an attic. In May 2026 the full collection will be formally gifted to the National Baseball Hall of Fame at the Cooperstown Symposium on Baseball and American Culture. The Blue Ox Archives, a serialized documentary, is presented by Hero Network.
